Imagine stepping into a home where every corner whispers a story of journeys taken, treasures found, and lives deeply lived. Abha, a 7,000 sq ft residence in Kolkata’s iconic The 42 skyscraper, feels like that rare kind of place. It’s a sanctuary that holds the chaos and beauty of its owners’ eclectic souls. Crafted by Untitled Design, this maximalist marvel layers art, craftsmanship, and functionality into a space that’s as luxurious as it is livable. For a family that let their home mirror their spirit, Abha is a canvas of memory and imagination, stitched together with stone, brass, and a fearless love for the extraordinary.
A Grand Welcome in the Foyer
Antique brass panels frame the foyer space, their warm glow catching the light of Revati Sharma Singh’s ceramic installation, Nothing Be Lost. A custom console with marquetry shutters sits beside a sleek Furgonomics bench, while a rustic lamp by Mahendra Doshi adds an earthy charm.
The main door swings open to reveal a striking water feature by Odyssey—massive stone slabs etched with Pali script and adorned with brass and silver Khadau, a symbol of blessings that ties the space to something ancient and sacred. It’s an entrance that doesn’t just invite you in; it pulls you into a world of layered meaning.
Living Room: Where Stories Unfold

Dining in Rich Harmony
The dining area strikes a balance between practicality and opulence. A custom light green aventurine table gleams as the heart of the space, surrounded by cane-woven Furgonomics chairs that nod to tradition. Thathera brasswork on the sideboard brings a whisper of heritage, while bold red vases from Zikwa and Tanmoy Samanta’s artwork inject vibrant energy. It’s a room that feels alive—ready for shared meals and lingering conversations—yet every detail is deliberate, weaving utility into the home’s maximalist tapestry.
Private Retreats with Personality
The private spaces offer a softer counterpoint to the public areas’ drama. In the master bedroom, an etched basalt stone headboard pairs with Santanu Dey’s artwork, creating a serene escape. Furgonomics furniture and Shades of India linens keep things understated yet cohesive. The elder daughter’s room, with its cosy window ledge, leather-and-cane bed, and a hanging installation by Bhuwal Prasad, feels intimate and tailored. The younger daughter’s space, meanwhile, leans into playfulness with a spacious gadda bed for sleepovers and warm wooden finishes. Each room carries its own heartbeat, reflecting the family’s individuality while staying true to Abha’s broader vision.
Bathrooms: Art Meets Everyday
Even the bathrooms weave into the home’s story, blending design with function. The powder room stands out with a sculptural brass wash basin framed by textured stone walls, lit by bespoke Furgonomics fixtures. Terrazzo counters and floors from Kalinga Stone add tactile depth, while artworks by Ashok Acharya and Santanu Dey elevate the ordinary into something extraordinary. These spaces prove that in Abha, no detail is too small to escape the touch of artistry.
A Material Symphony
Abha’s essence lies in its materials—natural stone and wood warmed by brass accents, all tied together with a palette of muted greys and earthy tones. Pops of color emerge through art and decor, like unexpected sparks in a quiet fire. This harmony keeps the home grounded, even as its maximalist layers dazzle. Stone, in particular, anchors the design, its raw beauty a constant thread through every room, from the foyer’s slabs to the bedroom’s basalt.
A Home That Speaks
Untitled Design has crafted a space that dances on the edge of excess yet never loses its footing, balancing maximalism with a restraint that feels deeply human. It’s a home where art isn’t just displayed but lived, where craftsmanship isn’t just admired but felt. For a family unafraid to let their tastes run wild, Abha is as timeless as the stone it’s built upon.
